The release of first teaser and Super Bowl trailer for the upcoming Paramount-Hasbro's sequel for G.I. Joe have been surprisingly fun. Perhaps, it is true that the new direction the studio has been working off nicely to give this sequel a much needed breathe of life. Today, the internet unveils more footage - in a form of French trailer which you can view after the break.
The French version basically an echo of the first teaser but it has several additional scenes:
- A longer and condensed speech by the faux president
- More skylines of cities; possibly the priceless clues for the setting of the story
- More heroes versus villain's battles
- Most importantly, a closer look to Cobra Commander's new suit/costumes
Otherwise, it is basically a tacky alternate version of the teaser. G.I. Joe: Retaliation, the sequel to the 2009 original film features almost entirely new casts while the story from the first movie was carried forward in this one. From the original, only Duke (Channing Tatum), Snake Eyes (Ray Park) and Storm Shadow (Byung-hun Lee) return to this one; joined by newcomers like Bruce Willis, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Ray Stevenson, Adrianne Palicki and Elodie Young into the series.
In the sequel, "Cobra Commander (no longer played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is now the masked leader of the terrorist organization, and his crony, master of disguise Zartan (Arnold Vosloo), has infiltrated the highest echelon of the U.S. government, posing as the president. With Cobra pulling the strings of power, and still running lawless throughout the globe, a new Joe force is tasked with saving the day." (ScreenRant)
G.I. Joe: Retaliation will be in US theaters on June 29, 2012 and expect it to arrive here in Malaysia a week earlier. P/S: The trailer features a musical piece from The White Stripes "Seven Army Nations."
