2011 is genuinely becoming a significant year when we are going to watch numerous forms of alien-invading and alien-friendly movies, all thanks to the genre-rushing era in Hollywood. It seems like a bad move rather than a good move because most, not all, alien-invading movies bombed among the critics. The endless stream of alien movie continues this December as Summit Entertainment has released the first official trailer for their upcoming voltage-fueled alien pic, The Darkest Hour. Watch right after the jump.
The Darkest Hour is probably one of the mysterious projects we have ever yet to cover much in Green Tea Movie. There were not that much details of it until the recent Comic-Con released the first image from the science-fiction thriller which you can view back at here. Now, here comes the much awaited trailer:
The trailer looks fun and retains some of the cool concept that Bekmambetov did mention in recent months. Instead of traditional mechanical or ugly-looking aliens, you have a different one that consumes only ‘lethal power sources’ to go with it. The action sequences are believably attractive but the gore is easily a PG13 tone which is not necessary a bad thing. While there are some artworks that you can go and see from Slash Film, I am still wondering how the finished product would look like.
The Darkest Hour stars Emile Hirsch, Olivia Thirlby, Max Minghella, Rachael Taylor and Joel Kinnaman. It opens in 3D and 2D theaters on December 23. The movie depicts a story of five young people who find themselves stranded in Moscow, fighting to survive in the wake of a devastating alien attack. The film combines mind-blowing special effects from filmmaker Timur Bekmambetov, with the vision of director Chris Gorak.
